Security Wait Times at Your Finger Tips
December 13, 2011
The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) is introducing a neat new tool to help travellers this holiday travel season and all through the year. CATSA, the organization responsible for security screening at many of Canada's airports, will post real-time security wait times for all Class I airports on their website . You can also access current wait times for the Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport by visiting the CATSA link on our website.
If you’re wondering how CATSA calculates the wait times, it’s really quite simple. Boarding passes are scanned when a passenger enters the beginning of the queue and again before they begin their screening process. The time intervals provided on the website reflect the average wait time during the past 10-minute period.
Passengers should be aware that the wait times provided are intended for passenger convenience and are not intended to be a substitute for proper preparation before leaving for the airport. Be sure to check with your air carrier for recommended check-in times and to plan ample time to for screening and customs before reaching your boarding gate.
