Santa Tests the STARS Helicopter at the Airport

Winnipeg Richardson International Airport’s fire hall welcomed a very special visitor today, Santa Claus! But he didn’t arrive with his usual sled and reindeer. Instead, he tested out something new… a STARS helicopter!

Winnipeg Airports Authority had the opportunity to team up with STARS (Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society) to transport Santa to the airport fire hall where around 150 students from Mulvey School, Strathcona Community School (pictured above), and Dufferin Elementary School anxiously awaited.

The afternoon was spent enjoying pizza, entertainment from local YouTube star Sean Quigley, and Winnipeg's Fred Penner. Sean played his famous ‘Little Drummer Boy’ on the guitar as kids arrived, and Fred led a sing-a-long after lunch.

Children lit up with excitement as they witnessed Santa landing in the STARS helicopter, creating memories that are sure to last a lifetime.

Thank you to our sponsors who made this event possible!

We’d also like to thank Santa, the WAA elves and firefighters, Louis Trepel and his helpers Barry, Carol, Lisa and Angela. Below is a picutre of some of the elves.
