WINNIPEG - May 3, 2006- Winnipeg Airports Authority Inc. today released its unaudited consolidated financial results for the quarter ended March 31, 2006.
For the first quarter revenues of $15,131,000 (2005: $14,438,000) exceeded expenses before interest, taxes and amortization by $7,270,000 (2005: $6,921,000). The excess of revenue over expenses of $4,512,000 (2005: $4,632,000) are used exclusively for required airport infrastructure and debt service.
"The Airport’s domestic passenger traffic, combined with the unique benefits of our market’s cargo opportunities, have contributed to Manitoba’s economic performance, " commented Barry Rempel, President & CEO of Winnipeg Airports Authority. "The performance, both financially and in terms of implementing the infrastructure redevelopment, continues to meet the objectives noted in redevelopment plans. We are very pleased to report the first phase of construction, the 1,559 stall parkade, is well underway and scheduled to be opened in time for the 2006 winter charter season."
Passenger traffic for the first quarter of 2006 (unofficial) was 822,000, an increase of 1.7% from 2005. Commercial aircraft movements for the first quarter decreased by 4.1%.
