WINNIPEG, Manitoba – May 1, 2017 – Winnipeg Airports Authority (WAA) continued to build on the momentum of a record-breaking 2016 in the first quarter of this year.

Passenger totals increased by 5.5% percent compared to the first quarter of 2016. Consolidated revenue was $30.7 million for the first quarter, compared to $29.3 million for the same period in 2016. Earnings before interest, depreciation and taxes were $15.3 million, compared to $14.7 million for the same period in 2016.

“Our team is focused on delivering facilities and services of value to our stakeholders,” said Barry Rempel, President and CEO of the Winnipeg Airports Authority. “Doing so has had our community witness incredible change both on our campus and in the growth of related employment since WAA took over responsibility for the airport 20 years ago. We will continue working with our airport partners to leverage airport assets for the benefit of our community.”

The excitement of serving a vibrant community will continue this summer as Winnipeg Richardson International Airport welcomes thousands of visitors to our city and province for the 2017 Canada Summer Games.

Winnipeg Richardson International Airport serves an average 11,000 passengers per day with flights to over 60 nonstop destinations. Winnipeg is also the number one dedicated freighter airport in Canada, keeping goods flowing efficiently and building on our community's reputation as a transportation and logistics hub.
