Winnipeg Richardson International Airport ready for another busy holiday season

WINNIPEG, Manitoba – November 29, 2017 – Winnipeg Airports Authority and its airport campus partners are ready for another busy holiday season.

The festivities kicked off early this month with WestJet including Winnipeg Richardson International Airport in its 12 Flights of Christmas celebration on November 21. The Winnipeg celebration included a performance by the Royal Winnipeg Ballet in the arrivals hall and gifts for passengers on one lucky WestJet flight.

This Saturday, Santa Claus will be at the airport from 1 PM to 4 PM, helping welcome visitors to the city. Free photos and refreshments will be on hand for anyone arriving home. As well, carolers will be performing in the arrivals hall, at the main courtyard post-security, and elsewhere in the airport throughout December. For more information on winter activity at YWG, visit our blog post on holiday happenings.

WAA has also set up a post-security giftwrap station to assist travellers who are bringing gifts through security. If travellers plan to bring a gift as carry-on, Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) recommends they not be wrapped, as they may need to be opened during the screening process. The giftwrap station provides an opportunity to wrap gifts post-screening. Visit the CATSA website to read more tips for ease of travel this holiday season.

WAA also recommends anyone travelling over the holiday season check their flight status with their airline or at WAA.ca.
