“The Loop” is just one of the many bends in the Assiniboine River as it meanders its way across southern Manitoba. This particular bend, by no means spectacular or special, is unknown to just about every born and bred Manitoban. Yet to a Canadian military pilot it remains one of the most recognized geographic features seen in the military pilot’s career and, more than likely, inspires fond memories of reporting “by the loop.”
