Futuristic Boeing UAV

Good Morning Blog Readers!

Are you suprised to see me here on Louis Riel Day? (For those of you reading outside of Manitoba, it’s a new holiday here- almost everyone has the day off today). Well you’ll be happy to know that those of us at the airport are here and hard at work- so lucky for you, I have a great blog to share with you today!

I was doing a little research on the internet today and found this article about the plane pictured below. This is the coolest thing! The plane itself is a joint venture between Ford Motors and Boeing. It’s a HALE aircraft (which stands for High Altitude Long Endurance) that flies using a turbocharged hydrogen combustion engine. Apparently the same type of engine can be found in Ford Fusions and Ford Escapes (hybrid version of course). This plane is still under development I guess, and they have run some chamber tests with some promising results. It’s very interesting, and definetely an interesting photo- I’ve never seen a plane like this before! Anyway I really love to hear about these kinds of developments- just proof that this industry is constantly evolving, which is why it’s so important for Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport to keep growing as well. If you want some more info about what this plane’s use would be, etc. Check out this link: http://www.news.com/8301-10784_3-9804678-7.html?part=rss&subj=news&tag=2547-1001_3-0-5
