6th Annual North Pole Express
December 19, 2008
Happy Holidays everyone!
I should let you all know that this is going to be the final james2010.ca blog post of 2008! Time has certainly flown by, hasn’t it? But don’t be too sad- I will be returning on January 5, 2009 for many more blogs!
This is the perfect post to end 2008! It is filled with happiness, the spirit of Christmas, energy and fun! Yesterday was the 6th Annual North Pole Express, an event that Winnipeg Airports Authority puts on each year with the help of Signature Vacations and Skyservice (and many other very important participants that are far too various to list!). Inner-city school children come to the airport to meet live reindeer from the zoo, have lunch, and then go on the most magical plane ride that they could imagine! Lead by Ace Burpee from HOT103, the kids sang and chanted for Santa (Doug Speirs from the Winnipeg Free Press) until he finally appeared alongside his head elf, Eddie (Gary Lawless from the Winnipeg Free Press). I took lots of photos and videos (below) but if you are looking for a bit more of an ’official’ recollection, you should check out Doug Speirs’s column, which has a great video posted with it as well: http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/local/on_top__of_the_world.html
With that, I’d like to wish you all a very happy holiday, and all the best in 2009. I’ll see you in January! Ho ho ho!
