Video Of The Queen's Arrival

Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport New Air Terminal Building received its first official travellers today as Her Majesty The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh arrived just after noon. The Royal visit was greeted by over 1500 invited guests, from the Lieutenant Governor to Manitoba’s Premier, WAA executive staff and board, as well as our Goldwing and Silverwing Ambassadors.

The Queen then signed a letter written to Manitoba’s youth – which was placed in a time capsule – and will be opened in 2060.

As she made her way down the escalator into the Arrivals Area, cadets and other guests greeted her (video clip) while children handed out flowers.

All in all, a great way to introduce our New Air Terminal Building to the world, and we couldn’t have asked for a better person to be the building’s first official traveller.

Below are some photos of The Queen’s arrival, followed by a short video clip. More photos and videos will follow later this week.
