Solar Impulse Commences 24 Hour Test Flight

Back in early April, I blogged about a solar plane that flies without fuel or emissions, and which had just taken its first test flight. Two months later, that same solar powered plane - the Solar Impulse - has taken off on a 24 hour test flight, leaving an airstrip just outside of Geneva, Switzerland early this morning.

According to the AP, the goal is to have this plane fly around the world by 2013 or 2014. Quite the accomplishment, if it happens, however what this team has already done is very impressive.

Below is a video from the AP, showing the plane in action and the pilot who will be flying this miracle of flight all through the night.
