Plan Pull 7
August 26, 2010
That time of year again is coming up: the time of year when Winnipeggers get together to compete in a Plane Pull contest – flexing their muscles, practicing their chants and wearing outrageous costumes – all in support of United Way of Winnipeg.
The 7th annual Plane Pull takes place at Red River College’s Stevenson Campus, which is at the west side of the airport off Saskatchewan Avenue (map here).
Registered teams – maximum 20 people – will able to participate in the Fun Pull or the Competitive Pull. The Fun Pull features a 90,000 lb. McDonnel Douglas DC-9, which can be pulled with ease with any dedicated team. Those looking for a challenge can enter in the Competitive Pull, towing a 191,000 lb. Boeing 727 – a full 101,000 lbs. more than the Fun Pull. No big deal, right?
Teams can also compete for prizes in different categories. Fastest time, best team costume and most creative team song or cheer is all up for grabs.
Plane Pull 7 takes place on Friday, September 17, 2010. Registration is at 10:30am, with opening ceremonies and goal announcement following at 11:00am. A BBQ lunch and the Plane Pull event commence at 11:30am, with awards handed out for 1:15pm.
For information on registration, you can head to the United Way of Winnipeg page here. And to prove that WAA means business when we participate in this event, take a look at our video from last year’s Plane Pull below.
