Arts For All Story Sharing And Tarot Reading At YWG

Recognized as the Culture Capital of Canada 2010 by Canadian Heritage, Winnipeg’s art scene is abuzz with activity. Many of these activities are being organized by Arts For All, a program sponsored by various levels of government, aims to provide access to the arts to everyone in the city.

One of those activities is City Stories with the Winnipeg Tarot Company, which happens to be taking place at Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport, among other various venues throughout the city. Every Tuesday from September 28th to October 26th, you can get a free tarot card reading from a local artist, in exchange for a story about Winnipeg.

The stories will be compiled and featured on the Arts For All website, as well as archived with the Winnipeg Arts Council. Artists like playwright Ian Ross, singer/songwriter John K. Samson of The Weakerthans, and actress Maggie Nagle – among several others – will read cards and listen to stories throughout the City Stories’ weeks.

If you’re at the airport on a Tuesday during this time frame, stop by the tent on the second level near the arcade, and share a story about Winnipeg that you find humorous, sad, thoughtful… whatever! They’d love to hear from you.
