Meet Tim - Our Fire Captain For-A-Day Winner
November 1, 2010
Tim really wants to be a firefighter, so one can imagine how excited he was when he got the chance to be Winnipeg Airports Authority’s Fire Captain For-A-Day this past Saturday.
A student at Seven Oaks School Division Met School, Tim’s essay really spoke to his desire to help people, save lives and to be the first one on the scene to any emergency. Naturally, he was a perfect fit to experience what it’s like to be a firefighter at Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport.
Our young Fire Captain got to check out our new fire truck, hold the water hose (with a little help from the firefighters), learn some basic CPR, and experience a different part of airport operations from outside of the Air Terminal Building. This is a fairly unique experience, as even some of the airport employees have yet to visit our fire hall, which is located opposite the Air Terminal Building on the airport property.
It was great having Tim spend some time at our fire hall, and we hope this experience was a great eye-opener to a really cool job.
