Air Force Run Fun

Sunday, May 28 was the third annual Air Force Run at 17 Wing Winnipeg. The run attracts civilian and military runners, joggers, and walkers. Over the years, the race has raised thousands of dollars in support of two wonderful charities, the Military Families Fund and Soldier On. These two charities fund everything from repatriation of fallen soldiers to reuniting families during crisis times.

In addition to raising funds, the Air Force Run (a.k.a AFR) has a goal of being a fun family-oriented community event that unites the public and members of the Air Force, Navy, Army, Reserve Forces, and Veterans. Lastly, the AFR serves to promote physical fitness and healthy living.

Barry Rempel, President & CEO of Winnipeg Airports Authority Inc. (WAA) serves as the Honorary Colonel of 17 Wing Winnipeg. Mr. Rempel was on hand to officially kick off the Half Marathon and the Family Fun Run. In support of 17 Wing and to join in the fun, WAA sent a group of staff to participate in the Family Fun Run. Congratulations to all the runners and to 17 Wing for putting on this great event!
