Fuel Bar Now Open at the Airport - Cheers!

Located post security in the domestic and international passenger boarding lounge, the chic and sophisticated Fuel Bar is now open at the Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport.

With operating hours from 9am to 9pm, Fuel Bar is a great stop for jetsetters who are looking to quench their thirst and refuel before catching their flight. They offer a variety of signature cocktails, craft beers and global wines by the glass.

In addition to beverages, Fuel Bar offers patrons a few quick meals to enjoy at the bar or grab-n-go for the plane. Travellers can choose from sandwiches served with kettle chips (Mediterranean, Tuna salad, Turkey & Swiss, Ham & Swiss, or Chicken Caesar), crisp salads (Asian chopped chicken salad and Greek salad), or fresh shrimp rolls.

“Contributions from local artists adorn the walls, lending a unique feel to the space, and creating visual interest in the concourse,” said Oscar Hernandez, Regional Vice President of SSP America/SSP Canada. “Air travel isn’t only about getting to your destination; it’s about enjoying the journey.”

Interesting fact: the only other airport with a Fuel Bar is JFK International in New York.

Travelling alot with my job I do love the new airport however when I am picking up someone I found it very frustrating once I realized their flight was delayed...as much as I love Stella's, it was jam packed and did not have a hope to get a seat and in reality, I just wanted a drink and there is no lounge to speak of at Stella's. When I could not get in, I did see the tiny bar and it had no customers and maybe 5 seats but the bar itself was covered in bar supplies hence why no one was sitting there. I am surprised there is no lounge or other shops available pre security. Other airports like Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary have places to have a drink prior to security as well as shops to browse and potentially purchase. I am curious as to if there are plans to open another restaurant pre security. It is great that departing customers have more choices now however, when you normally catch a 7:00 am flight...most likely not having a drink or browsing in shops. And upon arrival, I am anxioux to get my luggage and leave, not loiter and a snack and beverage.

Hello Canadian Traveller,

Thanks for your comments. We’re sorry to hear you weren’t able to sit down in the lounge at Stella’s while waiting to pick someone up at the airport. I’ll pass along your feedback to the manager at Stella’s to see how they can improve things at the lounge.

Other than the Tim Horton’s on the main level and Stella’s on the upper level, there are no plans to open another restaurant at this time. There is a new shop called Camden Foods opening next to the Liquor Mart Express on the main level; they will offer fresh grab-and-go items such as sandwiches, salads, etc.
