Oak Park Raiders Take Off to Play Football in Ireland

On Saturday, August 25, the Oak Park High School Raiders football team departed from Winnipeg's Richardson International Airport en route to Dublin, Ireland to play in the 2012 Global Ireland Football Tournament (GIFT 2012).

Two years in the making, GIFT 2012 will see 12 high school and college teams from the United States and Canada play competitive American football games in Dublin and Navan. The Oak Park Raiders will play against Villanova College from King City, Ontario at Páirc Tailteann in Navan, County Meath on Friday, August 31st.

Pictured above is the Oak Park team of 38 players standing in front of the bronze James Armstrong Richardson statue at the airport before checking in for their Air Canada flight to Toronto, and then on to Dublin.

The Raiders return to Winnipeg the evening of Sunday, September 2nd.
