WAA Fighting Hunger with Airport Garden

Winnipeg Airports Authority hosted its annual wrap-up of the Grow-A-Row season at the airport campus garden this afternoon.

Volunteers loaded dozens of boxes full of garden fresh produce, including beets, potatoes, corn, onions and tomatoes. In total, we harvested 3,612 lbs of produce to help nourish hungry families in our community.

Joining us this year in the Grow-A-Row program were Red River College, Hilton Winnipeg Airport Suites, Courtyard by Marriott Winnipeg Airport, Manitoba Trucking Association, Graham Construction and Engineering, 7-Eleven and Deanne Crothers, MLA for St. James.

We’re proud to have teamed up with these local organizations who share our desire to serve others and make our city a better place.

This summer marked our 19th year participating in Winnipeg Harvest’s Grow-A-Row program. Over the years, Winnipeg Airports Authority has donated 38,427 lbs of vegetables to help ‘fight hunger and feed hope.’
