The wooden ceilings that hover over the Departures level are nearing completion, and we have some excellent photos of them this month.
Our photos of the New Air Terminal Building for the month of June are in, and it's in this batch that I think you'll start to notice the changes from previous months in terms of smaller details.
Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport New Air Terminal Building received its first official travellers today as Her Majesty The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh arrived just after noon. The Royal visit was greeted by over 1500 invited guests, from the Lieutenant Governor to Manitoba’s Premier, WAA executive staff and board, as well as our Goldwing and Silverwing Ambassadors.
Only five more days until Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip arrive at the New Air Terminal Building as its first official travellers.
The new terminal building design is characterized throughout by open sight lines and the presence of beautiful natural light, including the breathtaking constellation of skylights, which is a keynote architectural element.
